Construction of Our Hilo House - Page 9

Things are really moving along now. The kitchen cabinets are mostly installed, the countertops are almost done, and the floor tiles, both interior and exterior, are in. Also, the boxes of lighting fixtures are piled up in the dining room, waiting for the electrician to free up.

Here is our master bath again, nearly complete. The big storage cabinet on the left (also African Mahogany) is looking great , and they're nearly finished putting the tiles on both the whirlpool bath and the shower stall. We have two different color tiles for tub and stall, and they ran out of both. But they'll get some Real Soon Now.

A close-up of the whirlpool bath. The tiles are 3" cobalt blue with 11 decorative tiles spaced semi-randomly on the front and backsplash. Paku, the tile guy, says there is a theme in how he organized the special tiles. Neither one of us is sure if we see a theme, but we like how it looks.

Our back patio also has tiles, but they're the more rugged (and less slippery) outdoor type. This is essentially the same view as picture #3 on page 2, only a bit closer. How things have changed! The thingie sticking up through the tiles near the bottom of the picture is the electrical connection for the hot tub.
